- Supervising all the purchases and sales of the land in the area, the candidate is posted as a Patwari.
- Maintaining and updating the records of the land ownership of the area.
- Conduct surveys in the areas regularly.
- Supervising and collecting the land taxes of the area.

The candidates selected as Patwari will have to join any Revenue office of the Jammu and Kashmir Staff Selection Board.
As per the official notification released by the board, the selected candidates will be eligible to receive a monthly salary on the pay scale of Level-4 (25500-81100). In addition to the basic pay, the candidates will also get a lot of allowances as fixed by the board.
