Jammu and Kashmir govt to provide financial assistance of Rupees 50000 for marriage of poor girls.
The Lt governor administration has restructured the marriage the marriage assistance scheme for the marriage of girls who belong to poor families of AAY and PHH
In a meeting of the Administrative council chaired by the LT Governor Manoj Sinha this decision was taken.
Under this scheme any girl of legally marriageable age who belongs to poor family which is covered under AAY AND PHH Ration card is eligible for one time marriage assistance.
The money will be given to the her before her marriage for which she has to apply for at least a month advance in Concerned District Social Welfare (DSW) Office.
The DSW has to verify the mandatory details before the disbursement of money like marital status, age and if she is availing benifits in any other scheme like Ladli Beti.
In order to promote Girl Child Education, additional eligibility of completing elementary education by the beneficiary before her marriage is also included.
To provide smooth transition in this regard a grace period of three years that is upto March 31, 2025 is being provided.
